Report
The site is located in the northern part of the Czech Republic, in the border area near the town of Frydlant. In the past, there were buildings used for agricultural production in the area. They are no longer in use, derelict and some of them ruined. The outcome of this project is to built new houses with rural character.
There is a set of 40 family houses planned for the site which are projected in a way they allow for all-year living (although some of them may only be used for recreation). Moreover, there is a restaurant with the accomodation in the area.
The set of 40 buildings is planned in a form of a small living complex with a village square. A newly designed communication network connects to the existing one which goes through the site and provides acces to individual houses. The existing communication functions as the main access road. The irregular road network partly comes out from the traces of original paths and roads found in cadastral maps.
Proposed buildings are inspired by traditional look of regional rustic architecture together with the use of materials typical for the region – wood, plastered walls and Eternit cladding panels. There is an individual boiler room intended in each house. For instance, a wooden pellets boiler can be used for heating.
